Cosplay is a portmanteau of ‘costume’ and ‘play,’ a term coined by Nobuyuki Takahashi to mean the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book or videogame. Black America hasn’t been left out of the buzz! These last few years have witnessed the costumed portrayal of characters in which, they believe, reflect bits, pieces and essences of self as an individuals and as a race with unique struggles.
